Fourth of July Cakes

I made two cakes for the Fourth of July this year - one for a family party at my sister's and one for a party my brother in-law and his wife asked us to.

I was a little nervous about the eagle cake I wanted to make for my sisters. I thought the detail work would kill me, but figured I could always scrape it off and do a flag if I had to. Turns out I didn't have to.

Here's the cake I made of the other party. It was my first time using fondant since I ususally just do buttercream. The stars are stacked fondant.

I got both cakes decorated in one day. It took about 8 hours to get them both decorated, but it was worth it.

For the Ladies

These are the cakes I made for my mom (pink roses) and my wife (yellow roses) last year.

Cat and Dog Cake

My oldest son turned five last year and loves animals. He wanted a cat and dog cake. Here's what I came up with.

Baseball Boots

My youngest son loves sports and was obsessed with the Dora the Explorer episode with Baseball Boots. My sister in law sketched Boots in his baseball getup and I did the cake off her sketch. This was for Ryan's second birthday (2010)

Graduation Cake

After the Steelers cake, the same family hired me to do a high school graduation cake - my first paying gig!
